Die kindliche Entdeckerin, die sie einmal war, die sie noch immer aktiviert, hat die Künstlerin zur Protagonistin ihres poetisch luftigen Zeichnungszyklus 6 x 11 gemacht. Das „Mit großen Augen schauen“ wird darin ebenso transportiert wie eine gewisse Verunsicherung, ja Verstörtheit, die wohl jedem Versuch innewohnt, als Erwachsener die Welt mit der Neugier des ersten Mals zu sehen. Natürlich kann eine solch romantische Sehnsucht sich nurmehr als prinzipiell gebrochene, etwa im Modus der Ironie präsentieren. Doch nicht einer programmatischen ironischen Distanz verdankt sich der gewisse Schwebezustand, der an Ohlmers Kunst so fasziniert. Vielmehr ist es das gekonnte Changieren zwischen nüchtern analytischer Faktizität und dem Beharren auf dem Wunderbaren, als steter Wechsel von Illusion und Desillusion.

The childlike explorer that she once was, that still activates her, made the artist the protagonist of her poetically airy drawing cycle 6 x 11. „Looking with big eyes“ is conveyed in it as well as a certain insecurity, even confusion, which is inherent in every attempt as an adult to see the world with curiosity for the first time. Of course, such a romantic longing can only present itself as fundamentally broken, perhaps in the mode of irony. But the certain state of uncertainty that is so fascinating about Ohlmer’s art is not due to a programmatic, ironic distance. Rather, it is the skilful alternation between sober analytical factuality and insistence on the wonderful, as a constant alternation of illusion and disillusionment. (Stefan Tolksdorf)
